Word of warning to Detective Goren: don't even think about having a DNA test done to determine your paternity. You just might find out dear old Dad is a creep like Eli Rush. What a piece of work--sleeping with his brother's wife, using the "I'm sterile" pickup line to great effect, and fathering half the kids in New York City. Does Eli Rush have his own zip code and telephone exchange to cover all his progeny?
Det. Falacci doesn't waste any time grating on the nerves of Captain Ross and ME Rodgers. Logan's correct--let him try being the diplomat for a change in this partnership. Good luck Mikey. And while you're at it, check out when the department is offering the Homicide Crime Investigation course again. Maybe Falacci will let you borrow her notes.
Maybe down the road we'll find out how Logan and Falacci met. A partnership made in heaven or hell? She has a sharp tongue, so Mikey's going to have his hands full until...Wheeler returns? Stay tuned.
Michael O'Keefe plays Dr. "Johnny Appleseed" Rush as an egomaniacal narcissist with more delusions of grandeur and importance than he has a right to have. Rush is the poster child--no, make that poster father--for upscale uptown deadbeat Dads. I wonder what Goren would have done with him.
ETA: USA already has a 2-minute replay/summary video from "Seeds" on the website, as well as the episode commentary by writer Peter Blauner.

They might have solved the case faster if Logan had remembered a similar case from 5th season L&O called "Seed."
I think I like Falacci and the way she and Logan work together.

Wow. This is the first episode of CI where I've thought "What a waste of time." The acting from all parties was awful. The guest stars were terrible, Alicia Witt turned my nerves into Parmesan cheese, and even Noth and Bogosian were wooden. The storyline made no sense, the writing was poor, the background music was odd (what was with the plinking notes?)
And OMG! They are blackmailing the doctor into donating his marrow??? How is that right? How in the world can they justify that?
I'm a big fan of Logan's and I always enjoyed the Logan/Wheeler eps last season. I even liked 30, which many people disliked. But I was very disappointed in Seeds. Ugh.

Thanks, Tere! Season 5 is where my memory gets rather hazy. After the end of both Moriarty and Logan, it isn't the same show for me. I should add: I have a healthy respect for mothership Logan, even for season 5-6 CI Logan. He was a wonderful character. Why does he have to get all these weird wooden scripts? I don't understand why they need to use such different writing for the two teams, especially coming on the heel of the wonderful valentine, almost, that was "Amends."
I agree with DonnaJo about the firecrotch comment--it was unnecessary to say the least.

I thought it was all right - I didn't mind Falacci (I think she's kinda different...), but it'll be nice when Wheeler returns. Nothing spectacular and not in the "re-watch" category for me, but it was still okay...

Admittedly I laughed through the whole thing as a result of Ross's line "Now we know who DIDN'T find the afikomen..." which I personally found hilarious...
But I think there are possibilities here... Logan and Falacci seem to have some interesting chemistry. They can handle each other... but how long before the Falacci/Rogers smackdown?!
And for goodness sake... just how messed up was the Rush family. Crikey!! And all those poor pool-playing progeny...
It probably comes in at a B- or so for me. I am looking forward to seeing Falacci mix things up in the next few episodes...

I thought the episode was OK, nothing spectacular. I was excited to see Michael O'Keefe in a juicy role, and he did not disappoint. A total narcissist who selfishly wouldn't give his donor sperm son a bone marrow transplant (because it hurts so much), I nonetheless found his attitude about children interesting. He wouldn't perform abortions, yet didn't care one whit about any of the babies he fathered. The mind of a sperm donor?
What was the point of the character Jason? Another spoiled, rich dysfunctional kid allowed to do & say whatever he wants to whoever he wants. The prude in me didn't like the fire crotch comment, was it really necessary? Is that the edgier CI?
Falacci - I have issues with her. For one, who is she to show Rodgers such disrespect? Not just in all the phone calls - but all the nastiness in the morgue. So B***hy. Why, because she took a Master's level Homicide course, she thinks she's all that? And they had to bring that up twice? To make Logan look like less?
Anyone catch the very first scene, she's on the phone with her kid, saying "Just put on the wig & put on my lipstick & your good? Guess the kid was going to a costume party. And the line to Logan about she'd rather be at a murder crime scene than be a clown at a kid's party? So flippant, like seeing death is nothing. She sounds like the absolute worst mother. Very different than the Theresa Randle Mom character. Of course, people will say that she was acting like that for Logan's benefit, but I didn't see it that way.
Witt is very expressive, which I do like. Her face is an easy read, too. I was surprise that they prepared a new opening with her, Noth & Bogosian. At least they aren't pinching pennies with CI. I thought Noth looked great - healthy & fit. He should give Goren some of those vitamins he's taking.
I assumed that the previews that have been running on USA were for this episode, but they weren't. Wonder which episode they are from?

It was ... weird. It had the same kind of "can't put my finger on it" weirdness as "Bombshell." Tere, there really was another episode just ike this on the Mothership? Not surprised. Someone should systematically go through and study the crossovers. In the 5th season of L&O, Logan and Briscoe investigated a fertility doctor who inseminated his patients with his own sperm. The episode was called "Seed." I don't remember a murder in it, but it was more interesting than the CI episode. Despite the repeat plot and problems with the episode, I did like Falacci and Logan.

I had it figured out that Rush was his father when, they said, it was his son who commited the crime, then when they showed the sick brother I figure out why, he was after his father, but didn't know why he killed Rush's brother, which I found the reason pretty lame in the end. Also pretty sick for a doctor not to want to save anyone's life if he had the chance. Also impregnating all those women. Must say, just love all the red head kids though, Someone in casting, has a thing for Redheads. Wheeler hurry back, I can't see Falacci's type of in your face attitude with Ross and Rodgers working in the real world. Also guess they added her in the beginning credits since they were redoing them for USA? But seems they just could have used old ones of Wheeler from last season.

I liked it. Logan and Fallacci worked well together, and had an ease with each other that surprised me. And I loved Logan's Gorenesque sniffing of the crime scene...maybe those two are better friends than we thought.

Ok, I did enjoy Ross' "Easter egg hunt with a matzoh" line. And when Logan sniffed the bleach/blood spot I chuckled. But everything else? Meh. At first I was excited to see "Father McShale" back as a repeat offender, but his acting in this one was subpar. He forced out lines like, "Do you know how much donating bone marrow HURTS?"
And what was with the sample thing the receptionist brought into his office near the end when Logan and Falacci were in the waiting room? He opened it and then....what?
And what about the ridiculous plot hole at the end when they blackmailed him into donating his bone marrow? I'd like to know if someone can justify that bit of writing.

I just don't know what to say. Poor Noth, maybe Mr. Wolf hasn't really forgiven him from the mothership and has given orders to give C/N all the crappiest scripts? As for the sample container, he was making another sperm donation, yuck. I love Logan, I really do, but I have to think of his episodes as a completely different show, but as I've said before, even a bad CI is better than most TV out there. Do I really have to get back to work?

This whole episode through me for a loop.
I loved the beginning. It reminded me of days of old when LOCI had a good meaty story.
Surprise, Surprise...I liked Falacci! I liked that she is completely different from every other detective that they have in all of the law and order shows. I liked that she gave Ross and Rodgers a hard time. I liked that she brought some humor back into the story lines that has been missing for quite awhile. I loved the comment about the homicide course she took. LOL!!!
I loved how Logan took the lead and showed how he's earned the right to be the senior partner. Heck, I even liked Ross last night.
Then I don't know what happened the whole thing just sort of fell apart. They blackmail the doctor into giving the bone marrow donation and then the story ends. What!!!!!
I still don't know what to think!
