H-m-m. I find some of the early Logan episodes to be very weak. Many of the stories with Barek as his partner seem to have been meant for Goren and Eames and not terribly well adapted for the other team. And several of the early Wheeler episodes are just not very good. But the writing of the Logan episodes started getting much better with Falacci's arrival, and several of Logan's later shows are as good as anything LOCI has ever done.

Why is it in terrible taste, d roe? Because of a historical reference?

It's offensive to South Asians, period. Benazir Bhutto was assassinated very recently--in 2007--and while to some she was suspect, to some she was a hero. Caricaturing her strikes me as being at the very least in poor taste (The character in question is dressed as Bhutto). The real (ongoing) Civil War in Sri Lanka is misrepresented (these characters are fictional politicos from a real political context); the leaders of a particular ethnic group in that war (Tamils) are represented as villainous. So in short--these are not historical incidents being drawn from but real-time events being caricatured. Hope that's clear Whoever wrote it is trading on the fact that viewers will not recognized these contexts.

I don't know, they almost always rip from the headline in some way.

Yes, but you can always adapt good or bad... and this was in some ways done badly.
