Thank you! yep, she is my 12 year old dog. She had a really mean owner so she still had that sad look but she is very happy and a first class thief. And took me out of a big depression, it´s amazing how a pet demanding care and attention can make you leave your bed.
I thought I should get an avatar that says something about me, the things I like. Besides LOCI.

Spaniard, your dog is adorable! [/melts]

Hee! Not a problem, sarahlee. I confuse people when my full screen name is "janetcatbird", but I don't want them to say "Janet". (What can I say--I like the combination but "janet" doesn't feel like me. Besides, I'm from the south, I'm used to using middle names as popular pronouns.) We're cool.
Spaniard, you're right, having a sweet animal to rely on/that relies on you does wonders for pulling your head out of your butt. I'm just glad that my cat back home has quit sulking when I'm home for a weekend and is instantly welcoming (in her cranky way), used to be she'd give me the silent treatment for the first couple hours. Now she immediately follows me to the bathroom, the bedroom, wherever.

These five (two cats, three dogs) are a bunch of hooligans. But they are the most loveable hooligans in the world. And better than any anti-depressant I 've found... caseyswife

Human/animal relationships are so powerful and rewarding, I swear I can be having the worst day/week/month, but my animals (especially my Australian Shepherd, Maisy) can always put a smile on my face and make me feel better.

To Techguy: I have a question, and you're the only one I know to ask: Do they make dvd- discs in a larger format than the standard ones typically found in most stores? I need just a little bit larger, and I called the tivo dvr manufacturer, and he said yes. But so far I can't find any. Thanks for your help!!

I knew I should've gone with a more complicated name (g). If it's any consolation, sometimes I'm not sure who I am, either.
I have cats (hence, my name). Cats keep one humble. All dictators hate cats.
Patcat (I think)

Don't feel badly patcat, at least you don't have to choose which personality to let out... ;D (sometimes it gets crowded in here...)

Ronni, when you say larger do you mean physical size or storage capacity? With respect to physical size dimensions, I am not aware of any DVD discs that are larger than the standard 5 inch diameter, only those that are smaller, the mini DVDs which are 3 inch diameter.
I assume you have TiVo and want to transfer some of the recorded programs from the DVR's hard drive to a DVD? I only know of two ways to do TiVo to DVD transfers: either with a DVR/DVD recorder combo unit, or by transferring the TiVo recorded material to your PC and using the computer's DVD burner. For more info about this, here's a link that might help. At the bottom of the page under MORE RESOURCES there is a click-on link to more info about TiVo-powered DVD recorders:
reviews.cnet.com/4520-10166_7-5568230-1.html
If you still have more questions, I suggest you call the TiVo manufacturer again and get more specifics about exactly what is the procedure involved for your unit and what DVD recording discs are recommended for it.

Thanks, Techguy! I did go to that site and submitted a question. My question was about a larger storage capacity. I do have TiVo with a dvr, and usually everything is fine. Just every once in a while a show, specifically the USA airing of "Blind Spot" went over. It went 1.03, which meant it wouldn't fit on a single disc. That is why I was asking about a larger storage disc more than 4.7 gb. And they said they made them larger, but all I could find were double-sided +R, and of course mine is -R.
This particular time it was for Blind Spot, but it's happened with other shows too.
I had a heck of a time with Blind Spot. The original airing on nbc was interrupted on our local station for 10 minutes with breaking news. So that recording was shot. Then the USA one went over. And it's kind of messed up to put the ending 3 minutes of the show on a whole different disc. I always watch and record at the same time, because Criminal Intent is my first choice of any show, and I have to watch while recording!
Anyway, thanks for your help, Techguy. As I said, I did write them for a solution. Thanks again!

Ronni, I hope you get your question answered. As for storage capacity, I know Verbatim makes a 8.5GB 4x DVD-R DL disc, but I don't know of any retailers that sell it. www.cdfreaks.com/article/201
You might have to check out some of the big box stores or some of the big name electronics stores in your area. An online search of retailers might be useful too.
