Wow, a new year, I hope it is a good one for all of us. I'm back at work, yuck, and spent all of yesterday in bed watching LO:CI season six, G/E epis. I just got my Season 2 DVDs and can't wait to go home to watch them. I guess it would be tacky for me to pop them into my computer here at work, unfortunately my monitor faces the door to my office and my boss can see what I'm doing when he walks by, 6 hours a day of Sudoku is bad enough. HAPPY NEW YEARS Y'ALL. madger

HAPPY NEW YEAR everyone! We had a pretty quiet New Year's--except for the fire...some of the local thugs thought it would be funny to blow up the dumpster, and loaded the thing up with fireworks. It might sound humourous until you're standing there watching the 20' flames and wondering how fast (if you need to) you can get the essentials out of your apartment. TTGL no one was hurt, and our brave volunteer firefighters kept it under control. I must be getting old, the exciting life has little appeal to me lately...

Yikes, Sarahlee, that fire sounds damned scary. So how is everyone's New Year going so far? Mine is pretty peachy. One of my resolutions was to artistically follow my whims and do whatever strikes my fancy, which I realize sounds very self-indulgent (I do what I want!!! ), but I'm feeling much more creative and productive. Yarn is being spun, jewelry has been hand crafted, and a mural has been started in the hallway. Phew! I hiked around for a couple of hours today taking pictures of wild mushrooms. The only negative thus far is that my 19 inch monitor died this morning and for now it's replaced with an ancient 15 incher that's permanently set to "pincushion" so my screen is all wonky.

Hee, flattery will get you everywhere! Thank you! Some mushroom pictures. I can't explain my fascination, but I just love mushrooms (which goes nicely with my gnome fixation), even though I am terrible at identifying them. But here you go: www.flickr.com/photos/sarahivy/sets/72157594381914436/

Happy New Year all. Today it is nearly 60 degrees outside. Some rain, but who cares. No snow for the Great Lakes, what a wonderful December and January. Sorry though, for anyone in the Denver area.
Sad news, we lost my Uncle Dominic over the holidays. He was a Police Chief for 50 years! (And a great guy.)

Happy New Year everyone!
I've been encouraged by a couple of people to post a CI poem I wrote as part of a challenge on another board. After much trepidation, I thought I'd stick my neck out here and post it. While it may not be great poetry, it was certainly fun to work on.
I'm not sure if the poem belongs here or not. If it doesn't, let me know and I'll remove it. My apologies to anyone from the other board who's already slogged through this creative effort.
"Through Goren's Eyes"
His eyes are the soul of truth: A man, a detective, a super sleuth. A look, a gesture, a moment of reflection, Goren's mind is a magnificent tool of detection. No crime, no clue, no misdeed goes unheeded Because each piece of the puzzle is needed. He uses it all to skillfully undermine The perpetrator of the crime. Goren searches for meaning, to understand it all; It's not just enough to make the criminals fall. He holds a mirror up for us all to see, And what reflects back is society. Not all of it's good, not all of it's bad -- Truth isn't so easily had. He searches each motive, the heart behind the scheme, All in the hopes that they can be redeemed. And when the criminal's intent is finally laid bare, We are all equally exposed under his stare. And at the aria's end, a moment of rapture, We understand the criminal's capture.
