>>Now we just need a followup episode where Goren and Eames have to save Logan from the nasty mob men... and allow Bobby the opportunity to tell Wheeler all about the Code of Lek!!
wheeee!!<<
I love it! I must admit, I had to back up my Tivo at Mike's comment so that I could laugh twice as hard. I thought that was pretty funny and I detected that little note of "jealousy", too.

Okay... To Tech Guy and all others who have preferred the Logan episodes this season, I FINALLY was able to view "Blasters", and I HEREBY RETRACT my "Not impressed" statement about Mike Logan. I still wasn't too thrilled with the plot, but I can appreciate the playful give and take between Logan and Wheeler, and the "seasoned detective" feel of Noth's character. I remain steadfast in the Goren camp, but during yesterday's USA marathon, I didn't turn the channel when Logan/Barek/Wheeler occupied the hour!
However-- and from reading previous Board postings, I could possibly be banned for saying this -- when I want a "seasoned detective" other than Goren, my choice would still be ---hold your fire, "soap"-haters --- Andy Sipowicz! Now THERE was a hard-boiled detective. And I further admit that I was not repulsed by his "tush in the shower" scene. Dennis Franz came through all the "soapy" stories of NYPD Blue with all his acting skills intact.
For the record, though, this Goren fan has "accepted" Logan into the fold, at least on a bi-weekly basis!

or at least slap it really hard until you start hating Logan/Wheeler ... or start shipping for them ;D
I used to like Sipowitz. Didn't mind his bum, either. Didn't like it, but it wasn't a big deal. I even wrote a CI fan fic chapter where a Sipwitz-like character was Eames' partner before Goren. It was snarky as hell and mostly made fun of Sipowitz, but it also poked fun at Eames and CI.

I'm also late to the party on this one. Saw it on USA, and find it embodies everything I dislike about the changes to this season. Guess I have Warren Leight to thank for that. Slick with no substance. Ick.

Saw this episode last night, and I'm still processing. Right now, I just want to know one thing - are they gonna follow up the 'Logan in blood with the Albanian mafia' plot???

Don't know, blu. They can put Ditmir in the bag of villians with Nicole and Chesley so theyre closeby when they need one. I don't think he has "nemesis potential", but it sure sounded threatening and ominous to me!

Threatening and ominous, indeed. What they've actually done is set it up nicely to give themselves an option to write Logan out of CI. If Chris Noth decides he's had enough, or the PTB decide they want to give him the boot (God forbid on either of those scenarios), I bet it'll be whammy! Logan gets taken out by the Albanian mafia.

EEEK NO - What can I say except that would serious suck LOL - Truely though. I feel I would sadly have to bid CI and Law and Order adieu then - Like both shows so much - BUT - I LOVE Logan - My loyality is therefore more with Chris Noth and his wonderful character of Mike Logan.

Awww, don't start worrying yet mikeyrocks! I believe I read Noth has a 4 year contract, so unless the whole series dies, I think he's safe (relatively speaking) for now! And it sounds like from the Stephanie S interview, he will bump heads with Chesley Watkins again! Despite the absence of the doink doinks and the stalker cam, I personally am enjoying the Wheeler/Logan episodes as much as the Goren/Eames ones, (if not more lately).

It's looking really good for his longevity as a character. Logan and wheeler really fit together. don't worry!

I confess that I'm not as emotionally invested in the Logan/Wheeler episodes--I don't tape them and am not terribly upset if I don't get to see them during their first runs. But the improvement in the quality of their episodes has impressed me.

I thought I was seeing things! Wasn't it the mug shot to the extreme lower left? I thought, no, must be someone else who looks like.....So it was Rene Balcer? I thought it was Leight...

A search on google reveals it to be true. It's called the Code of Lek and is still done a bit in Albania and some other parts of the world and yes, there is a sense of LO:ci using this code to define a group of cliquey, immature boys.
From The Guardian "Its author is thought to be Lek Dukagjin, Lord of Dagmo and Zadrima, who fought the Turks until 1472, then fled to Italy. His intention was to limit the cycles of bloodletting among the mountain tribes which sometimes destroyed entire communities by enabling a council of tribal elders to arrange a besa, or truce once honour had been obtained.
Enver Hoxha's regime suppressed it. But the privatisation of land, which reopened ancient disputes, and the breakdown of law and order last year, when Albania's armouries were looted, have encouragec direct retribution.
Sometimes the vendettas start through killings or land disputes but they also begin with a fight over a drink or a car accident. Usually it's a killing for a killing, a beating for a beating. The kanun doesn't specify how killings should be carried out, but if you mutilate a victim's face, attack him from behind or kill him after you gave your word not to, the bad blood comes back to you.
"Within the first 24 hours you may kill anyone from the clan to which the person who carried out the initial killing belonged-but not a woman. After that you can kill any member of the family. After a year, it must be only the murderer or whoever lives in his house. The code doesn't allow women to be killed, but there have been cases in Tropoje [on the Kosovo border] this year where women have been forced into hiding by death threats.
According to the article on the Balkan Repository Project website: "In some families there are no men left. "

I don't think LO cares that much about the male demographic - it's, and always has been, their girlfriends they're after.
