I just got done watching this and boy did they cut the heck out of the episode. Yes they did. I was especially surprised they cut Bobby finding Frank's drugs and his brutal reaction (the "bridge" comment). That was one of the most intense moments and shows how alone Bobby is in terms of family ties. No surprise that they cut out the engagement ring scene. Someone had suggested as much on site here. Since they had to cut out something, I think it was wise for future episodes to cut out the "I'm done with you" scene. Obviously Frank will be returning & Bobby is gonna deal with him. We also didn't need to see the crack pipe to know that Frank was still using - they gave us his teeth.

Thank you! WHY DO THEY DO THIS? ?? It's bad enough when the "teaser" really turns out to be a tease. I shoulda taped it the first time, but I SHOULDN"T HAVE to to get the original show! I was told by another fan that closed caption doesn't pick up everything and why would he hear "Hey Goren" on the street otherwise? (She heard that). OR-I gotta stop eating in those cheap restaurants.

Just out of curiosity...how common of a name is 'Manos' vs. this being a reference to the infamous movie riffed by the MST3k guys? Caught this while making screencaps: Manos?Even if it is a common name (which it probably is in this case, but this is just for fun), I can't help but think of that movie whenever I hear it ...

I just saw the revised episode, Goren doesn't find the crack pipe in Frank's room. Goren doesn't disown his brother. Its a completely different ending to the original airing of this episode. *sighs* I feel they should have made this episode into a two hour show, more so now, after seeing the edited version for regular viewing TV, vs what they squished into last Thursday's hour. I also feel, Ross almost suggested to Goren to go under cover, under the table to find out what was going on, outside of Major Case's jurisdiction. During the ride up to get Goren out of the prison, Ross asked Eames, how many people were involved in Goren's cover up. Eames answer was "besides you and me?" Also, I am also getting a yearning to run my fingers through Ross's curls

I would think they would have edited it out. Mauigirl and I heard it, we can't both have schizophrenia.

Well, I'm really late in giving my opinion, but I really liked it! I think it was one of those episodes where we found out where Goren was coming from. We all know he's a little quirky, but in this outing, we learned why.

In the course of reading the posts about this episode, there seemed to be some question about what Frank meant when he said, "I was the one", when he and Bobby were arguing in his apartment. I watched the episode again, and it is clear what he meant. First he said to Bobby, "I am smart! I am smart!" Then there was a pause, and he said, "I was the one!". It's clear that he meant that when they were growing up he was the one who was the smart one who would be the success that Bobby, and not Frank, has become.

Forthythree,
Why would Ross put Goren on a week's suspension right after his nephew is sent back to that same prison? That happened Right after ME Rogers told Goren and Eames that the blonde young man was tortured. When Eames went into Ross's office, while he was still wearing his tuxedo....Ross said to Eames to be careful how she worded it. She responded to Ross with. "Goren felt your hands were tied" Then on the way up to the prison, when Ross asked Eames how many people were in the cover up Eames response was "besides you and me?"
Ross gave Goren a window of opportunity. I believe its possible he knew what he was doing.

I would think they would have edited it out. Mauigirl and I heard it, we can't both have schizophrenia. maybe they didnt hear it..... There is one scene from an early show, Jennie Sue might know which episode, where Goren is talking to someone and right behind him, a truck or a car drives by and a person is waving at the camera filming the scene. Its quick..... but only a true blue LOCIian would notice......just like you and Mauigirl

Cassie, I took Eames' comment "besides you & me?" to mean at the present time. Now Ross is involved in this cover up, since he now knows what's going on & has involved himself by riding up there with Eames. Prior to the tuxedo/elevator scene, I don't believe Ross knew anything. Although I agree that he should have known that Goren would do something to save Donny.
I loved seeing the two Major Case geeks involved; Ira the computer guy from the Logan eps & the accountant who reveres Goren. ;D I think even more squad members knew, Eames didn't hide that she was jotting down info from Goren's cell, except when she saw Ross.

hmmm I still feel its possible Ross knew what was going down. Eames "hiding writing the times" while Ross was walking in the office, was too much out in the open for me. Just like Eames had to be careful how she worded some things said to Ross. She would have to be careful on writing the times....So he didn't have to ask.
Ross knew how to get Donny out of that prison, using Eames's vice connections without a trail leading back to Major Case, but he didn't want Goren to know first hand that he was doing it. He sent Goren out of his office.
If Ross has his detectives backs, which I feel he does, and I have seen it in other episode.... I believe it would be only fair for his detectives to cover his back. and that is why Eames and Ross talked a bit in riddles to each other......just a theory

When watching CI lately, it's so hard to know what is a very subtle hint at an idea or concept and what is just lazy writing or bad editing. To quote another poster, the new CI is usually about "as subtle as a tractor trailer." ;D A good example is from "Amends," which I obsessively rewatched a few times. It was a fluke that I eventually noticed the reflection of the Chief of Detectives in the interrogation glass after Victor's confession. And at the time, It seemed I was the only one on this board (and a few others) who noticed it. I believe that the reflection was deliberate, yet it was way too subtle. I just think that if we were supposed to hear voices, the close captioning would have described it ..(Goren hears voices in his mind). Maybe not, who knows.

Well, I finally finished wading through 9 pages of comments, and have probably forgotten most of the first 8, but anyway.... I'm of the "Ross is way too smart not to have known" camp. At first it puzzled me that he would not know what Goren would do with his Sick Leave, then smart chick that I am, after reading Cassie's posts, I said to myself "Aha!". It just takes me a bit longer to process information I just wonder if the mental ward of Tate's prison counts as have gotten a psych evaluation in Ross' book. In re-watching, Franks teeth are bad in the scene with Eames at the beginning he just doesn't show them, maybe trying to hide them from her? As a whole I liked this episode, and like it more with each viewing, catching all the little subtleties and nuances, but still too short, way too short. My poor Bobby, when will he get a break?
