I am so with ya, I'm also in the Bay Area and there are so many different accents that pinpointing one would be almost impossible unless trained in linguistics and I'm not, so I go nowhere near what country someone is from based on accent. I made that mistake with a New Zealander, I asked what part of Oz he was from and he was like, p-shaw, I'm not one of them, I'm from NZ. I almost died laughing because of his reaction, but then realized I am never going there again with the guessing game. The guy had been in the states for a few years so he didnt have a strong accent and it sounded Aussie !! What do I know, I'm a Cali girl !! LoL

And like someone else posted, I'm trying to figure out why this one was called "Slither". Slither like a snake perhaps? LOL!! Personally, I think it is because Charles Sobhraj, whom I think Bernard was clearly based upon, was nicknamed "the Serpent". Here's a link to further info good ole, occasionally-trusty, Wikipedia: en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Charles_Sobhraj.

I have heard the NZ vs Aussie thing is Serious - as a stereotype, they don't like each other and it is a big insult either way to be called the other. But unless you were an Aussie or a NZ, you would never even think about it

Am I the only one who got tickled at Eames' eye roll over :"I can't believe they're smiling in their mug shots! Innocent people wouldn't be happy to be arrested!" Is this payback for Tom Delay's snit last season? Hee! I love it.

I finally got to see this episode, and really enjoyed it. Michael York's performance was absolutely on the mark, and Bernard was a master criminal in his scope and manuvers--truly in the lines of a Moriarty.
And the episode had all the marks of a great LOCI--great deductions by Goren (the typewriter stuff was terrific); great support from Eames; and even snark from Carver.
I wasn't thrilled by Nicole's survival, but it's resulted in some interesting and well written situations.

I know that the name "Slither" comes from "Serpentine"....
But, least we forget the Holmes refence here....
Irene Adler, lived on Serpentine Avenue...
Just a thought

Very neat, apprenticeada!
What a great connection you made! What an amazing memory you have! What big eyes you have!
Wait...this the "Slither" thread. I'll save my wolf jokes for the "Homo Homini Lupis" thread.
So..."What does an exhibitionistic snake wear to the beach?
A pythong.
Sorry, I just couldn't resist!

I thought Nicole killed Bernard because she finally saw his manipulation of his other proteges as a reflection of who she was when she was with himand probably because of the prison term in Thailand she endured because of him. I saw her killing him as her acknowledgement of some of her past and her twisted way of living out its epiphany. She's changing.

I just thought of something while watching the episode again on TV: What if Nicole killed Bernard simply because he knew things about her that she didn't want Goren to know? I wouldn't put it past Bernard to spill out wealths of information just b/c he is a cruel & heartless person who prides himself on his girls, who he sees as his 'creations'. Just a thought.

Oh KDragon,
That is a brilliant thought. I wouldn't put it pass her or the writers of the show. I was thinking the other week too, that just because the writers show her thinking about the bright side, trying to do the right thing, does not mean that she will "come on over to the other side"

It's metro-sexual. A metro-sexual is a straight man who dresses gay (meaning he takes fashion and looking good seriously.) And, Goren has obviously never been to Grand Rapids Anyway, great comments, as always, Janet I also loved the use of the mirror in that interview.

I like your take on this. (Which means I agree with most of it!! LOL!)
I never thought of the scenes constructed as a labrynth but it makes a lot of sense and it adds a lot to the imagery.
One of my favourite elements of LO:ci is the humour. There's a lot of duality about the show, good and evil, choice and destiny, tragedy and comedy, pathos and humour. People are like that.
